You have made the investment in a new field and now you want to make sure your investment will last into the next generation. Here are a few ways to increase the life of your septic system.
Take Care of It: Obvious right? Remember to treat it as a lawn with grass and regular cutting. Keep your quads, snowmobiles and other vehicles off of it to keep it running at its best.
Call the Pump Truck: This will improve the speed and lifespan of your system saving you money in the long run. The time between pumps can vary based on your use and whether or not it has an effluent filter. Typically this will need to happen every one to five years.
Watch your drainage: The drainage around your field can be affected by new buildings such as garages or sheds. Make sure you take this into consideration when putting new structures up around your field and try not to interfere with the drainage patterns put in place.
Do you have an effluent filter? Our new systems are sold with an effluent filters which are excellent for keeping suspended solids back in the septic tank. This will add life to your septic tank but they should be rinsed once per year so that they are working at their best. Maintain your filters to get the most for your money.
