Do’s
- Pump your tank when necessary.
- Keep your lid closed and secure. This is something you want to check on a regular basis for safety.
- Make sure water is draining away from the field.
- Be conservative with water consumption. The less water going into your system, the Less stress on the field.
- Landscape with shallow root systems on your field (grass is best).
Don’ts
- No parking on your septic field.
- Toilet paper is the only thing to be flushed, 2 ply is best! No heavy toilet papers.
- Garbage disposals are not septic field friendly. Use a compost bin or toss your leftovers.
- Do not drain hot-tub water into your septic tank.
- Avoid putting household chemicals down your drain. Change to environmentally friendly products in your home.
